Local Data Erasure

Secure Recycling offers quick, secure and complete erasure of any quantity of hard drives as part of our on-site data destruction service. Secure Recycling’s employees are experts in the hard drive erasure process. Hard drive erasure can be performed right at our customer’s location or off-site at our highly secure facility. Unlike degaussing, hard drive erasure leaves a hard drive reusable and completely cleared of data.

Ensuring 100% Digital Data Destruction

Data overwriting is the data destruction method of choice for hard drives slated to be resold or reused. But a missed or incomplete hard drive wipe can expose an organization to a potential data security breach, which could prove to be extremely costly to an organization. Secure Recycling guarantees 100% digital data destruction for all hard drives that will be reused or resold.

Hard drives are reused only with customer permission.

Secure Recycling protects our customers’ privacy through:

  • Secure and standardized processes
  • National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST 800-88) Guidelines
  • US Department of Defense (DOD 522.22M) Specifications
  • National and International Certified Data Wiping Software
  • Validation of Data Destruction

NIST Compliant Hard Drive Erasure

The security goal of the data erasure process is to replace sensitive data with nonsensitive, random data. Secure Recycling follows procedures that are in strict compliance with U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-88 Guidelines and completely overwrites your data. This process may include overwriting not only the logical storage location of a file or files, for example, the file allocation table, but all addressable locations. Based on the sensitivity of the information contained on the hard drive, it is overwritten a minimum of three times.

Validation of Data Destruction

Secure Recycling implements an important final quality control step that goes beyond NIST guidelines. Prior to resale, hard drives are connected to our verification station and tested to confirm complete data removal. Any hard drives containing residual data are destroyed (shredded). This final validation step is essential to protecting your business from the possibility of data breach, but often overlooked by other reuse and recycling companies.

Certificate of Data Destruction

Secure Recycling provides a Certificate of Destruction to our customers, which can include a complete list of serial numbers, manufacturers, and model numbers for compliance and audit purposes. Our Certificate of Destruction is nationally recognized and our media shredding process meets requirements as set forth by all local, state and federal guidelines.
